Tom Lail
Born and Raised in Fort Worth, Tom founded True Guard in May of 2016. After studying under the wing of another great entrepreneur in Jason Falcon of LEAP PM, Tom gained invaluable knowledge, guidance and expertise not only in the RE/PM industry but in overall entrepreneurship. His extensive experience in real estate in the state of Texas is now over 10 years as of 2023. Tom has brokered thousands of residential & multi-family leases, sales and acquisitions and is currently managing over $180 Million worth of rental property assets located across the DFW market. Tom’s primary role at True Guard is Principal Broker, focusing on new client on-boarding, sales & acquisitions, accounting and client market education. Tom’s passions are discussing business ideas tied to the trades, writing and recording music, and explaining what Bitcoin iS.
PARTNER/PROPERTY MANAGER
Victor Smargiasso
Holds degrees in marketing and management from Tarleton State University. Possesses over 5 years of corporate experience in team leadership, marketing, and business growth in companies with annual revenues of $10M to more than $1B. Real estate experience includes project management for private investors involved in rehabs and wholesaling. Victor joined True Guard full-time as a business partner and property manager in 2018. He also handles client real estate transactions, and is actively involved in process improvements and business development.
REPAIRS DIRECTOR
DeSean Thomas
Since joining True Guard in 2016, DeSean has helped service thousands of work orders and hundreds of make-ready/remodels to complete tenant and client satisfaction. His primary role as Repairs Director includes overseeing maintenance and project management on over $180 Million worth of Rental Real Estate and building trusted vendor relationships that truly last. Having played football for 3 years at Montana State University, DeSean’s competitive nature still shows through today with his commitment to work ethic and dedication to his incredible family with 3 daughters. His passion is continual self growth and education, and raising his family. DeSean is currently taking Real Estate license courses to further his knowledge base of an industry he plans to make a lasting impact on.
